Jeff Bezos, founder of e-commerce giant Amazon and one of the world's richest men, is set to open a historic bridge in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, so that his pleasure boat can run smoothly. On the other hand, Bezos has to pay around Tk 4,168 crore for the pleasure boat. The 41-meter-high pleasure boat had to be taken to sea by the bottom of the Konigshafen Bridge to be sent to Bezos. But since there is not much space under the bridge, the middle part of the bridge will need to be opened. However, many residents of the city are not happy with the decision to open the bridge. According to a CNN report on Saturday, Rotterdam authorities in the Netherlands have already given permission for the demolition of the Konigshafen Bridge. The mayor's office said that in making the pleasure boat of Bezos, Rotterdam will be benefited. Many people have got jobs in making this boat. He also promised to restore the bridge. Bezos will also pay for the demolishing and re-installation of the bridge. According to a report in the German media Deutsche Welle, this dismantling may be done next summer which will take a few weeks. Although built in 1878, the bridge collapsed during World War II. Then it was reconstructed again. The bridge was last renovated in 2017.
